Pricing of our garments...

All of our garments are hand-made made by Amy and Cheryl.
We commit ourselves to only a few gowns a month, and roughly half a dozen corsets, so all of our customers get the attention that they deserve.

Our prices are variable and dependent on material costs, time required and the amount of detail intrinsic to the garment. Please consider the following when we sit down to discuss a tentative price:

  • Material cost and quality: We constantly look for the highest quality fabrics the world has to offer. All of our corsets (with the exception of our samples or at the wearer's request) are made with 100% cotton coutil and finished with the finest silks we can find. Corsets tend to only use 1-2 yards of silk, so the final cost isn't much affected. However, a dress can use between 6 and 20 yards of silk, so the difference of $10/yd fabric (aka some dupioni and some not so spectacular satins that we are able to buy in bulk) versus $120/yd fabrics (absolutely dreamy silk satins) can really make a difference in the fabric price aspect of a garment.
  • Construction methods: There are multiple ways to finish a garment. We'll discuss all of these methods with you before we decide on a price. Regardless of what method you choose, all garments will have a clean and attractive finish. Price does not compromise the quality of our work.
  • Timing. It's all in the timing: Since all of our garments are hand-made by just us (Amy and Cheryl....OK, Betty and Vera, too), we need time to get your garment done. If you give a call at least 4 months before you need your garment, we <3 you! The more time we have, the more we will be able to scrutinize every last detail and make sure your garment is perfect. If you need your garment in a month, it's less likely that we will be able to take your order, but if you have impeccable timing, it might be doable. The only way to find out, is to ask.
  • Details (oh, the details):The saying goes: "The difference is in the details...". There never was a saying more true. All of our embroidery, beading and finishing is done by hand. The materials are not necessarily expensive, but the difference of sewing a beautiful lace trim on the bodice of a dress versus embroidering and/or beading the same bodice can make the difference of five days worth of work. This is a very important detail to consider when determining the final price of a garment.
  • Location (location, location!): This does not affect the final price of any garment, but it does speed up the process greatly. We prefer to meet all of our customers individually and learn a bit about you. Besides the obvious ease of fitting, it also makes communication much easier. It is easiest if you can travel to us, but if you cannot and you are within 3 hours of the Capital District, we will very gladly travel to see you. We have made garments based on measurements/mock up pictures alone, but we always get the best results if we can fit you ourselves.

Victorian-styled corsets begin at $350, and tend to average $400-600.
Dresses begin at $2000, and tend to average $2500-3000.

Any quoted price will include custom pattern drafting, materials, labor, fittings, and delivery (by hand or mail). If these prices are not in your budget, please contact us and let us know your needs and budget. We will very gladly accommodate you.
