We'd like to apologize in advance for the fuzzyness of these pictures, but we wanted to put them up so everyone would have a general idea of what this gown looks like. We'll have some more once we can get them scanned. :)
The "Darla" gown is an A-line princess-seamed gown with a court train that bustles into a sweep train . Our favorite feature of the this particular gown is the flattering sweetheart neckline (easily made "daring" if the wearer desires), which can be embellished with embroidery and beading. Medium to heavyweight satins, dupionis, raw silks and taffettas are highly recommended fabrics for the Darla, however carefully placed organza or chiffon may be overlaid used to created a "mysterious illusion" effect. The structure of this gown eliminates the need/desire for a pesky crinoline. This sample is crafted in lightweight (12 momme - doesn't hold a crease) satin, and is in the process of being recreated in heavyweight (23 momme) silk satin.
For cooler days and evenings, the Darla can be matched with a shrug or shawl. This gown also pairs well with a custom-made corset (as pictured); we highly recommend an underbust or a waist cincher with this particular design. The pictures here feature the beautiful Darla in her namesake gown with a custom-made matching silk satin underbust, on location at the Belvedere Mansion overlooking the Catskills. Stunning!
